Wakes cause property damage, the perimeter of Tiki Island as well as it canals are No Wake Zones.  Please be a considerate neighbor and make no visible wake.


  

Sec. 28-21. Speed restrictions; hazardous wakes.

(a)      No person shall operate a boat on waters within the corporate limits of the village at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the circumstances and having regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing. The limits specified in this section shall be lawful and any speed in excess thereof shall be prima facie evidence of violation of this article.

(b)     The channeled area around the perimeter of Tiki Island and all manmade canals located within the corporate limits of the village are hereby designated as safety areas. All boats, jet skis, vessels, and all other motor crafts traveling in these safety areas must not create any visible wake.

(c)      No person may operate any motorboat or vessel at a rate of speed greater than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the conditions and hazards, actual and potential, then existing, including weather and density of traffic, or greater than will permit him, in the exercise of reasonable care, to bring the motorboat or vessel to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead. In every event, speed shall be so controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, motorboat, or vessel, and it shall be the duty of all persons to use due care.

(d)     No person may operate any motorboat or vessel within the corporate limits of the village on any public water so as to create a hazardous wake.
